What is accretion process?
Accumulation of small particles or gases into an object, which becomes huge in size. Due to this gravitational process astronomical objects like galaxies, stars and planets are formed.
How Accretion happens?
Example – Let’s learn Accretion in Stars formation
The gravitational collapse of the interstellar gases make them loose potential energy. This collapse generated heat energy and thereby particles gained kinetic energy. The particles in nebula (cloud like material) gained angular momentum. Those particles surrounding near the centre of nebula had more momentum. Due to this continuous gravitational accumulation of particles towards the centre, stars are formed.
